Village Cafe in Vista

Beautiful atmosphere. Amazing woodwork and fireplace make this place feel like a rustic home. Staff is friendly and very present. I only had hot tea with peppermint grown on their farm and local honey. Got a delicious green juice to go.

Amazing food, amazing service, great decor. An immediate favorite. Had the Beef Shawarma Plate. 😋😋

Staff was friendly and helpful, and while my toddler was exploring the patio, the owner came out to tell us that our party's food was served.

he waitress was super attentive, and didn't mind answering my dumba$$ questions. ("How do you pronounce 'gyros'?). The food was incredible. All fresh ingredients. I had the combo salad which had gyros, falafel and chicken kabob on it. So good. Everything was delicious. Their patio area is huge and dog friendly! They have a gorgeous fire pit out there as well. Unfortunately, it was raining when we went so we didn't get to enjoy that part, but we will when we go back!

I'd give my left arm to be able to eat at Shaks on a regular basis. I'm a Vista native that's been transplanted in the PNW and I've yet to find Mediterranean food as delicious as what Shaks serves up. Whenever I'm in town I have to stop in. It's not an option. I must eat at Shaks. It's a great addition to the downtown scene and perfect for date nights, or taking your grandparents out, or sampling some locals brews with your friends. You can enjoy belly dancing weekend nights or enjoy lunch on the patio in the sunshine. The falafel is my favorite of all the falafels I've tried, the garlic dip is perfect if you hate people and would like to be left alone, and their kataif is one of those desserts you'll never regret ordering. Also, please get a waffle. You can thank me later.

The lamb kabob was delicious. The hummus was on point 👌. So good, I will definitely be returning. There's so many items on the menu I want to try. The bloody Mary was delicious too

The food was amazing and the flavor was delicious! The garlic dip appetizer was intense with flavor! We Loved it! I ordered the gyros plate and it was truly filling. I was hesitant about the lemon soup but when it came I thought it was super tasty and I would definitely have it again. The gyro meat was thick and filling. The rice was great and don’t get me started on the delicious Mediterranean side salad! To top it all off Nicki was an amazing server! She was very attentive and our drinks were never empty. This was our second time eating and we really had a nice experience. Will be recommending.

Great food, great service, great prices. A highlight in the main street Vista scene. Chicken kabobs are excellent, hot cheesecake desert is divine. Sample appetizer is phenomenal. Our waitress was friendly and exceptional. Highly recommend for locals and for entertaining out of town guests.

Ok I'll share my details. This place man, let me tell you about this place. It. Is. Off The Chain good. I'm loving there falafel sandwich..To say it's the best I've ever had would be a understatement. There gyro meat is top notch, very tender and flavorful.. shoot everything I had there was flavorful. The chicken kabob Bowl that I had was full of flavor and the chicken was on point all the vegetables were delicious rice was super good. All I can say is if you like good Mediterranean food this is the place for you. I for one wasn't really big on Mediterranean food until I tried this place because all the other places I went to just weren't that great and all the other places I went everybody said we're the best, to me this place is the best the other places( not going to say their names) we're just okay.

My experience there is always 5 star. It's family owned and run and they bend over backwards to make your meal experience the best! I highly recommend you treat yourself to the best meal there. Prices are great too!

We love Shaks! Order the Main Street Mezza to sample many of the appetizers and do yourself a favor and save room for the warm cheese cake!! I've yet to be disappointed with my meal or experience.

Absolutely delicious food can be found in this restaurant. Came in for breakfast with a friend while passing through town and loved it. The food is very well done and has a great flavor to it. The helpings are pretty sizable so come with an appetite. The interior is very modern and clean. The staff here is very helpful and have great suggestions. I would definitely recommend it.

Every time I am in Vista... I go to THIS restaurant. The lemon soup is to die for...I order one to eat there and another to go. The meals are so large I take the other 1/2 to go also. Everyone is super friendly too.

This food is absolutely amazing. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff are so funny and kind. The hummus, salad, and the "cheese cake" are some of the best things I have ever eaten. I only worry that the owners will notice how amazing their food is and up the price 😭😂 forever my favorite lunch spot ❤

Used to be The Armenian Bistro in Carlsbad, California. In the new location, you can not see the ocean. The food is well worth it.

I went there yesterday and probably was not the best day for the staff. Food was bland and one of the waiters kept making faces each time she passed our table just because me and my boyfriend were trying to have a good time with my daughter despite slow service. It was a little upsetting because I had such high hopes of the food being really good.. not a good experience.

Had lunch with my sister we ordered salads and the portion was nothing to complain about. Very good. Our waitress knew the menu front and back and the service was quick. Recomend the chicken kabob salad and the Cappuccino . For Vegetarians Mediterranean Veg Salad.SERVICE EXCELLENT.

We really love this place! Family owned and operated and by far the most amazing leaders and owners. They are kind, entertaining, ethical, and collaborative with customers! As owners they listen to concerns and have the best follow through, not seen or even heard of in their business. This place never stops making me happy.. the best middle eastern food.. price is also really good. You get more than what you pay for. The Turkey cappuccino it's a must to try .. the hummus it's very tasty and delicious.. I'm never disappointed of this place ..

On Sunday, January 12th my husband and I tried Shaks for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! The food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the gyro and fries and the chicken bowl. Everything was served warm and fresh. The seasonings were perfect. The gyro meat was tender and juicy. Honesty the best gyro meat we’ve had. Additionally our service was outstanding. Our server was attentive without being over bearing. The management stopped to check on us and offered to refill our drinks for us. Everyone was friendly and pleasant without interfering with our conversation or being a nuisance. We will definitely be back and encourage others that enjoy Mediterranean food to give this place a try. Also, this place has a huge patio area with lots of umbrellas for sun protection. :)

First visit, lots of seating inside and the patio. Their menu has many choices to select from. Breakfast available on weekends, 9am-2pm. We tried the chicken kabob plate along with some Mediterranean pickles, very good. There is ample parking, prices $10 - $20 range. Service was very good.

Amazing food!!! Just need combination plates however when my husband and I suggested that they were very open to it. It is our 2nd time here planning on bringing the whole family.

Beautifully cooked Mediterranean food. Gyros that almost melt in your mouth

My wife & I recently visited San Diego County and dined at Shaks on three occasions, twice for weekend brunch and once for lunch. Former Carlsbad residents, we often dined at Shak's predecessor, the Armenian Cafe. Father Eddie and sons source the finest authentic Mediterranean meats, cheeses, olives and produce. The weekend brunch offers delicious omelettes with wonderful combinations of these ingredients plus the tastiest potatoes to be found. Shak's lemon-soup, pita, rice, and tabbouleh compliment main dishes such as chicken kabobs, giro, and lamb. Shaks also offers party-room accommodations that work well for family or business events. We highly recommend this fabulous family restaurant where you'll feel like part of the family!

If you're looking for excellent Greek/Meditation food... This is the place. Great casual dining ambiance with available outside seating. Recommend the gyros and chicken salad. Look forward to exploring the breakfast and dinner menu.
